The Barton-on-Sea PROBUS Club is for men who have retired or are about to retire from PROfessional or BUSiness occupations. We aim to promote friendship and good fellowship amongst our members by organising various social activities.

Members embrace all facets of Professional and Business disciplines.

Although the Club is for men there are coffee mornings, lunches and joint functions in which members wives or partners can participate.

Barton-on-Sea in Hampshire is ideally located on the edge of the New Forest, about half-way between Lymington and Christchurch, and draws its members from within this area.

New members are welcome. For further information please e-mail Terry Johns at Terry.Johns@talktalk.net

The Chairman’s New Year Message

January 2010

We’re now well into the New Year and I hope for us all that the snow is a distant memory. Nonetheless, I understand the weather seems not to have prevented our intrepid golfers and walkers from braving the conditions to continue their outdoor pursuits !

Despite and whatever the weather, all our members can look forward to an interesting and active six months before our AGM in June.

As I mentioned in my 2009 Christmas letter , sadly the Club lost some of its members last year, but I’m pleased to say we also have many new faces at our Meetings and Events. To them I wish a happy association with the Club for many years to come.

In my Christmas letter I also said that this year the Club Committee is expecting to be busy - and you can see this from the Notice Board and Events information displayed on their respective web pages.

In May we have the Club’s Spring dinner, and by this time, hopefully enjoying warmer weather and readying ourselves for a dry and sunny Summer !

Later, after our AGM in June, there is a plan to make a visit to Portsmouth and the Gunwharf Keys - a responsibility of the new Committee !

Our Web-Master, Jim Brunnock, has continued to improve the layout and content of this web-site and is always open to suggestions of how to improve it further.

In conclusion, I wish to all members, a Happy New Year and may you all continue to get pleasure and enjoyment from the Club’s activities and events.
