The Barton-on-Sea PROBUS Club is for men who have retired or are about to retire from PROfessional or BUSiness occupations. We aim to promote friendship and good fellowship amongst our members by organising various social activities.

Members are retired business people who embrace all facets of professional and business disciplines.

Although the Club is for men there are coffee mornings, lunches and joint functions in which members wives or partners can participate.

Barton-on-Sea in Hampshire is ideally located on the edge of the New Forest, about half-way between Lymington and Christchurch, and draws its members from within this area.

New members are welcome.    For further information please go to the ‘Contact Us’ page

Chairman’s message – February 2012
How good it is to see the days beginning to get longer, after a cold midwinter. Fortunately we’ve had plenty of enjoyable Probus events to help us through this bleakest season of the year, from the Joint Christmas lunch to the brain-testing quiz (with afternoon tea!) just a couple of weeks ago.  The winter has seen  us welcome four new members, and at the other extreme we’ve celebrated the 90th birthday of one of our founder members – and some 27 years of his membership of the Club !

As we head towards the Spring and Summer, we can look forward to an interesting and varied programme of speakers at our monthly meetings. There is also a full programme of events, including a trip to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton and an Archery session which will be a new experience for me and, I suspect, for many other members !

Thanks are due to everyone who contributes to our programme, including the organisers of the ladies programme of coffee mornings and lunches, which are enjoyed by many of our 'better halves'. It’s good to see how the friendships formed through our Club add to the pleasure of  lives of members both old and new – and not least for myself !
